By the time an error reaches print it has already survived every tool you own — and it shows up as a quiet [?], if it shows up at all. Vitela moves the finding to the keystroke: references, citations, figures and tables are typed identities, checked the moment you touch them.

Most editors trust that your \ref means something. Vitela asks for evidence. Every claim in your document that can be checked, is — and everything that cannot be checked keeps working exactly as LaTeX defined it, untouched.

One small annotation — @id(sec:results) — gives the editor real information about your document, whether the writer is you or an AI. That is what buys checked references, safe cross-file renames and errors written in your own names. The coverage meter shows how much is under contract; plain LaTeX reads 0% and still compiles.

Reviews live inside the file as plain text — suggest, delete, comment, all signed with who and when. Rejecting a paragraph records it in a sidecar: the argument you threw away in March is still there in September, attributable and recoverable.

An agent in Vitela cannot silently edit: it proposes, as reviewable suggestions in the margin, attributed like any reviewer. You accept or reject. That is the supervision layer machine-written text has been missing.
